The Candidate

Josh McLaurin

A native Georgian, trial attorney, and dedicated civil servant. Learn more about what makes Josh the right person to represent our values.

I’m a native Georgian, an attorney, and a Double-Dawg graduate of the University of Georgia. It has been my honor to represent Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Johns Creek in the State House since I was first elected in 2018. During my two terms in the State House, I have fought to make healthcare and housing more affordable, protect our public schools from political interference, invest in real transit options, and reform our criminal legal system to ensure public safety and racial equity.

I love calling Georgia home, and I know the challenges we face as a state. Over two years into an unprecedented public health crisis and a volatile economy, people are hurting. Rent, groceries, and prescription drugs are stretching family budgets. The fear of gun violence keeps parents up at night. And some of our most basic rights–the right to cast a ballot, or make the most personal decisions about our health–are being stripped away by zealots who want to impose their ideology on everyone else.

For these reasons and more, I’ve stepped up to run for State Senate. We have a lot of work to do to end the dysfunction in politics and to ensure that freedom and prosperity are available to all. I have hope we can get there, but only if we have the courage to tell the truth and to fight for what’s right even when it’s hard. I am asking for your vote on November 8th because I believe that our state government can make a tremendous difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors, and I look forward to the opportunity to work for your interests and make you proud.
